Naming ceremonies are special, very special to the parents of the new born and of course well wishers.

I attended a naming ceremony recently and the preacher shared a word of advise from these verses of scriptures Deuteronomy 6:6-8. Verse 7 says “ And thou shall teach them diligently unto thy children and shall talk of them when they sit in the house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Do you see this? Let’s look closely at the scripture
Talk of them( the Word, Scriptures , His testimonies, His ways , His acts) ;when you sit in your house- (see to it they learn godly values when they are home); when you walk by the way- (when you are giving them a ride to school be careful what radio station you are tuned to) ; when you lie down- (read them stories that teach morals before they go to bed); when you rise- (teach them to study their Bible, teach them to pray).
So now what does it mean to be diligent, the Oxford dictionary defines diligence as having or showing care and conscientiousness in ones work or duties. These synonyms to diligence brings home the point for me- Persistence , Intent , Attentive. Being diligent in this light is active participation in teaching your children.
When the children watch learning videos/songs, I picked interest in a particular one where the little boy took something without daddy’s permission, when daddy asked him if he took it he said No , Daddy then asks him to open his mouth and there it was. Don’t let media sell lies, deceit, stubbornness to your children. Be Diligent.
If you have the time and your young ones have to watch learning videos, sit with them while they watch so you can filter what they watch. If you are busy and you can’t sit with them, let them watch videos that teach good morals, values, critical thinking, problem solving skills.
Be Diligent.
