Out of the mouth of babes!

I watched a five year old on America’s got talent tell a judge it was Jesus inside of her. After the girl's performance, In admiration the judge said he could see a certain actress living inside of the sweet girl. She responded with so much bravery, not her(the actress) but Jesus. To tell you I was impressed was an understatement, I began to ponder when is the right time for a child to acknowledge Jesus and know Him personally.

To satisfy my curiosity I picked on Jesus and His childhood. I found that very little was mentioned about Jesus’ childhood. We weren’t told if he performed miracles as a child or if he competed in Bible quizzes. After His dedication in the temple , the Bible says in Luke 2:39-40 “And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.” ‭Let us take a closer look at this The child grew and became strong, we always tend to think growth is sure and automatic but if we don’t remain intentional there can be no growth. For physical growth we need basic food and water, so much so is spiritual growth it takes being intentional. With growth comes strength. The Bible’s says to be strong in the power of his might, putting on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-11). He was filled with wisdom as the Holy Spirit is the custodian of wisdom(Isaiah 11:2). Of course all these was with the help and support of his parents, don’t think a child will just decide to pray or read the Bible if you have not made it a part of his routine. His parents played a role worth to be mentioned in verse 41 of Luke 2 ,they made it a routine to visit Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. You see, Joseph and Mary created the right atmosphere for spiritual growth. ‭‭In my search I found, there is no age barrier to spiritual understanding(God meets us where we are); Parents need to create avenues where the child can grow spiritually; Help them understand the love story-John 3:16; There should be no pressure-like telling your child by age 6 you should have won 6 souls for Christ; seriously mom how many souls have you won ; No comparison -an example is saying to your child when I was your age I was already speaking in tongues; Avoid superfluous expectations. Let a child be a child!
