Mummy Stop, I don't have time for this!

Recently, we took a walk with the boys, covering about three-quarters of a mile on the trail. I was prepared, securing little J in his stroller. Although little J is 4, he doesn’t really consider himself a baby anymore. After walking a bit, I let him out to walk for a while. Soon, he came back saying, "I am tired." So, he returned to the stroller, and I was glad to push him over the bumps as we headed back home.

Then I hear, "Mummy, stop, I don’t have time for this." Little J thinks I was just playing a prank on him by pushing him over the bumps, but that was simply how the sidewalk on the trail was.

This situation, although amusing, reminded me of our life's journey. In life, we'll encounter bumps and step into muddy areas because that's simply how life is, much like the trail walk. We just need to walk this path with the assurance of victory. Why am I so sure of this?

Isaiah 43:1-3 reads

  1. But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel:

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

  1. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers,

they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned,

the flames will not set you ablaze.

  1. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom,

Cush and Seba in your stead.

These words provide the assurance that as we go through our journeys, He is with us and loves us. What immense love He has bestowed upon us, allowing us to be called the children of God.

Therefore, the real issue is not whether we will pass through, but when we do; Will you trust that this moment will pass, unlike little J, who was certain I was acting deliberately.

Friends, He is a good God. He has great plans for you, a bump along the path shouldn’t convince you otherwise.
