The other day at Sunday School, MV told his teachers " I don't want to be rich".
One of the teachers then mentioned to me, "your son said he doesn't want to be rich, but
I rejected it for him" :).
With MV one conversation leads to another, and we ended up on this finance
topic again. He said mummy -I don't want a Lamborghini, I don't want to be rich in things,
I just want to be rich in Christ. He says, you know money should be used to meet needs
and not wants. Hallelujah! This child is schooling me on Biblical Finances.
So, I started reflecting on the difference between riches in this world's goods vs riches in Christ.
What then does it mean to be rich in this world's goods? To begin with, they are this world's goods
because we take nothing of these things out of the world just as we never came into the world
with any of these goods.
Riches in goods means riches in material things, possessions, status, position, achievement.
Is it wrong to be rich in this world's goods? No, we use these resources to meet needs.
But it is wrong to love this world's goods, so much so they become the affection of our hearts
and we start to chase after them.
1 John 2:15-16 reads "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is the world- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the
eyes and the pride of life- is not of the Father but is of the world."
Are there any riches in Christ, I mean real riches? Ephesians 1:3 sums
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ"...Did you see that; we are blessed and rich in
all things. We know that spiritual begets physical or even material for that matter.
Ephesians 1:7-9 further outlines the inheritance and the riches we have in Christ
In Him, we have redemption through His blood. The blood of bulls could not pay the price,
it was a debt too huge. Only the Son of Man could pay for this.
Because of this, our sins are forgiven. Christ paid, I am free!
According to the riches of His grace, He lavished us with all wisdom and prudence. We
know exactly what to do per time, we are not confused. Such a blessing!
He let us into the mystery of His will and His plans for our lives. There is Light,
There is Hope! There is Abundance! Just because someone gave His life.
This is enough! The Jesus that I know and serve is enough for me! Amen!!!
