Would you rather burn or bow?

Those three Hebrew men- Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego) never seem to amaze me. How do you flout a kings command with so much confidence in a foreign land for that matter? What could fuel up so much trust in a God they had only heard about, they only heard of His great works. Their fathers and mothers must have told them of how God delivered their great fathers from Egypt, the Red Sea experience , how he brought down the wall of Jericho, how he took the land for them. These miracles they heard so much about but never saw.
Even though they never saw the first hand miracle, they had a first hand knowledge of their identity in God. They knew to whom they belong. They understood to be a follower of Jesus, they had to deny themselves and take up their cross- Matthew 16:24(taking up their cross in this case means forfeiting their comfort or position, not following popular opinion). This is hard, isn’t it?
We all like to feel among, inclusive and swim with the tide. If you would rather burn than bow , there is no middle ground the only way is to- Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him. After all there is nothing in this world worth losing the love of Jesus for.
The good news is God is too faithful to fail, I love this scripture in Mark 10:29-30 because I love the hundredfold return, who doesn’t?
“Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.”
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego cared less what they would have left behind. It meant nothing to them . The good thing is they gained a hundredfold return, how am I sure? Because king Nebuchadnezar made a public pronouncement for the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego saying people, nations or languages must not say anything against their God and he promoted them- Daniel 3: 29-30
They gained people, nations and languages and most importantly eternal life.
